The trip to Calgary was beyond fun. Although we only planned to be there for 4 days for the #serranodemayo wedding, we managed to squeeze in a few trips and be tourists on our last day. 26th Lilac FestivalOur adventure began at the Lilac Festival on 4th street S.W. Annually, it is celebrated on the last Sunday of May. Thousands of people flocked to the fair as they kicked off Calgary’s festival season. The event is lined with numerous food trucks (poutine galore), vendors and performers. We were staying at Hotel Arts located on the doorstep of downtown Calgary — an easy stroll to where all the action was. Despite not getting our hands on some food truck grub, we ended up at Briggs Kitchen and Bar where I fulfilled my poutine craving.

Banff National Park2 hours away from the city is the scenic Banff National Park. Our friends took us on a hike of the Johnston Canyon — a great way to get some exercise and of course to take in some of that breathtaking scenery of Alberta!
