With technology and several social media platforms readily available to us today, it is easy to pull inspiration with just a click of a button. Sometimes it's as easy as talking into the phone and asking the operating system to perform the search for us. Our senses are constantly stimulated and all we have to do is look at the screen and ideas flow as fast as Busta spits out his rhymes. But what happens when the very thing that offers inspiration becomes a distraction? Where does one draw ideas? Whenever I need to get those creative juices flowing, I take a mental break, I unplug although done so begrudgingly. I imagine a flight attendant patiently reminding me to stow away my electronic devices, it’s time to take off into inspiration land. During this time, I find my muse from unexpected places. A stranger’s outfit, a book cover, floors, boutiques and in this picture, a flower shop.
Unplugging may send shivers down your spine but it’s the healthy kind. As the traveling gnome says, “go and smell the roses”.
