Andrea and I had an early day on Saturday trying to get shots for our SNOWMAN NY collaboration. “Do you wanna bike?” was the immediate welcoming question as we entered the park. The bike attendants hustled like crazy. We must have gotten the same question at least ten times and this became our little inside joke for the day.
Andrea Loredo is a New York City influencer and member of the New York City Style Collective. She blogs at Pretty Proper Quaint and has a vintage clothing shop on Etsy. Andrea talks about styling her SNOWMAN jacket for working out here.
I chose a bright mustard yellow jacket for my style challenge with SNOWMAN New York. In my previous posts, I shared how I don’t shy away from trends and colors with work wear ensembles. It is fun to take a different track and go for bold shades. With the jacket being the focal point of the look, I wore a muted gray hue for my pants and heels and a lightweight cream cashmere turtleneck for that extra warmth during those chilly Spring days.
Other colors that go well with Mustard are: Khaki—Think autumnal shades to add dimension to this color and Olive—this flexible verdant shade amps up the Mustard’s hot hue.
After the shoot, I sat down with Andrea at Bouchon Bakery in the Upper West Side and asked her a few questions.
Liz: Andrea My first question is, “ do you want to bike?”
We both chuckled in amusement.
How do you do to keep up with social media while having a busy schedule?
Andrea: I am on social media all the time. I am a big multitasker, so I will be checking social media while a page is loading at work. I do it while I’m on the train; when I go to work in the morning and I don’t have service on the subway, I edit my photo and write all the captions then I post as soon as I get service. I have certain times that I post and I just try to be consistent. I don’t have anything scheduled with an app or anything but I try to post between 8:30 and 10:15 am––that gives me some leeway; and then somewhere between 12 and 1:30 and sometimes at night.
What motivates you to blog?
That’s a really good question because some days I think are harder than other days. To be completely honest, some days I feel like, and I’ve said this to my Mom before, “Is it even worth it anymore? What am I doing this for? Is this making any difference?” but I still stay on a schedule that I made for myself and then the next day I’m back on it with the right mindset. I love this––I love what I do, I love taking pictures, creating content, writing, getting dressed, looking at other people’s outfits and getting inspired. The worst thing you can do is stop because tomorrow you will regret it.
Where do you see yourself in five years? We were talking about California earlier, is that part of the plan?
I would love to be in California! But five years from now, I’ll be 30. Where am I going to be who I’m 30? Honestly, I have no idea. You asked me this question in a really weird point in my life because I’m going through a quarter-life crisis where I’m changing everything. Now I’m evaluating those changes and keeping up with the change. If you asked me that five years ago, I would’ve said, “I would get my CPA and work in internal audit” but now that I’ve done everything, I ask myself, “what am I going to do in five years?” I need another year to figure that out so I’ll get back to you on the real answer to that. But to say one more thing on this topic, I’d like to be in a much more creative field.
What do you love about blogging?
I love that I am able to say what I want to say without a filter; share my opinions about trends and be able to work with such great people. Most importantly, I love taking pictures. One of my favorite parts about my blog that I don’t think a lot of people know about, is I post a new song for every blog post which is part of the hard work. I keep a running list of every song that I’ve ever posted on there. Check it out, play while browsing!
What’s your favorite coffee shop?
My favorite coffee shop? Oh my god, first of all I love coffee! Even though I drink Starbucks everyday, it is not my favorite coffee shop. I love Oren’s and Gregory’s. For a while I got on a little kick of the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf because of California. I love trying the mom-and-pop shops. When I went to Santa Barbara, that’s what I did everyday. Every morning I would wake up and take Nala (my corgi) to the beach and we would walk up this road called State Street. I would try a new coffee shop every morning. I wrote a whole blog post about trying them; I have reviews on all of them!
